Under normal conditions, oil flows through the piston valves providing the necessary control, but under demanding conditions, the 'cavitation' effect can occur where small gas bubbles mix with the oil. These bubbles are easily compressible, significantly reducing the shock absorber's performance.
The TrackRyder shock absorbers from Pedders, with a larger thickness and therefore a larger piston diameter, offer better control of oil flow through their valves under normal conditions. In demanding or extreme conditions, the shock absorber maintains its efficiency thanks to the foam cell technology that prevents the formation of bubbles while facilitating heat dissipation. Another advantage of a twin-tube design like the Pedders TrackRyder, especially in off-road driving, is that if rocks hit the shock absorber body and dent it, it will not damage it and therefore will not affect the shock absorber's operation.
